Romero revitalizes ‘Dead’ with youth-savvy intellect
The film-industry press tends increasingly to hail Pittsburghs George A. Romero as the godfather of gore, in a smirking nod to his new picture, Diary of the Dead, and to the persistent influence of Romeros breakthrough film of 1968, Night of the Living Dead. The tacit, too-easy assumption here is that Romeros films rely more upon visceral shock value than upon narrative ferocity or scathing social criticism qualities that constitute his larger impact as a filmmaking artist. The medium is horror, of course a popular genre that had embraced gratuitous gore as a ticket-selling commodity several years before Romero had seasoned Night of the Living Dead with such incidental excesses. The message, however, is Romeros continuing usage of the genre as a vehicle for bigger and more troubling ideas about the fragile state of civilization.

That is the reason why Microsoft has launched its second video gaming console by the name of Xbox360. It was developed in collaboration with IBM, ATI and SIS. The Xbox live allows players to play online and download games. A successor of the Xbox, the Xbox360 has already made its mark and is very popular among the video game lovers. It is giving a tough competition to Sony's Play station 3 and the Nintendo Wii. It was officially announced in 2005 and since then is gaining popularity. The Xbox 360 is available in three standard variants; the "Xbox 360 Arcade", the "Xbox 360", and the "Xbox 360 Elite". During its launch, the Xbox 360 was available in two configurations: the "Xbox 360" and the "Xbox 360 Core." The Elite package was launched later the "Xbox 360 Arcade" replaced the "Xbox 360 Core" in October 2007.

Sunday, February 10, 2008 10:00 p.m. - Early TNA PPV notes: The new valet to Scott Steiner is Trenesha Biggers, who was a college volleyball player at Florida St. and contestant in the 2005 WWE diva search. She worked through WWE's developmental system before being released in May 2006. Trenesha recently appeared on an FIP show in November 2007 against the current Peyton Banks, who wrestles as Rain on the independent scene. 6:00 p.m. - Mick Foley has an interview with the U.K. Sun discussing his future in WWE and his current limited role. The usual self-deprecation from Foley, including this line about his Rumble cameo appearance: "If everybody is tanned, then nobody really looks tanned, there's got to be one pale guy out there to make the tans stand out, and I see that as my role – the pale white guy." Foley talked about one of his sons booing him and accepting his role in WWE as a guy who won't draw ratings or buys, but can be valuable in a limited role.
